Safety first!
Burglary
protection increases your sense of security and reduces the chance of a
successful burglary. Did you know that protecting your house against burglary
is not as difficult as it sometimes seems? With a few minor adjustments you can
already provide robust burglary protection. We are happy to list for you what
you can do to protect doors, windows and the garage from intruders. With this
checklist in hand you shop the products for a safe home in no time.
1. DOOR
BURGLARY PROTECTION
Burglars
provide themselves with regular access to a home through the front or back
door. How quickly a burglary attempt succeeds and whether it succeeds at all
depends on the preventive measures you take as a homeowner.
Locks
If you opt
for a multi-point lock or an additional side lock, then your door is better
protected. After all, the access door is then anchored in more than one place
in the frame. There is a difference between a standard lock with a separate
additional lock and a multi-point lock. In the first variant you have to
perform two actions to open the door: both the normal mortise lock and the
additional lock open with a key. With multi-point locks you unlock all shots
that are anchored in the door frame with a turn of the key.
Security
fittings (with core draft protection)
By placing
security fittings on your outside door, it is much more difficult for burglars
to force the lock, break the cylinder or lock picking. If you use core pull
protection, then there is also a small chance that intruders 'core pull' the
cylinder: using a screw to break the cylinder.
Safety cam
For
exterior doors it is recommended to use hinges with a safety cam. You can
recognize these safety hinges by the extra 'pin' that protrudes from the hinge
or hinge leaf. When a door is closed, the safety cam protrudes through the
metal hinge leaf in the door frame, so that that side of the door is literally
locked. If burglars have forced a lock, they will still not be able to pull the
door out of the frame because the safety pins will secure the door in the
frame. Incidentally, there are also loose thieves claws available that you put
through the hinge, in the frame art. They work in the same way as a hinge with
safety cam.
Anti-manipulation
plate
The
anti-manipulation plate is such a typical example of a simple but effective
protection when you operate the outside door with a knob cylinder. Burglars can
drill exactly next to your security fittings and thus still open the rotary
knob. An anti-tamper plate prevents this - without having to screw or stick!
Anti-burglary
strip
We mainly
see an anti-burglary strip at back doors: the door that is generally less in
sight of local residents and passers-by. Although an anti-burglary strip may be
less attractive, it works very effectively. Burglars cannot get a crowbar
between the door and the door frame, making breaking open virtually impossible.
Do you
think you have done everything to secure your door: you can hear that intruders
can also open the door from the inside with a simple iron wire through your
letterbox. Tackle that problem immediately with letterbox security. No obstacle
for the mail, but for unwanted guests!
Ajar stand
holder
Do you not
trust the person at the door or do you first want to know who he or she is?
With a doorkeeper as front door security you make contact through a small
opening of the door. Only when you trust someone can you fully open the
doorkeeper and give them access.
2.
BURGLARY PROTECTION WINDOW
The window
often suffers when intruders attempt to break into it. Unfortunately, it is
often lacking in security. And that while there is a range of security products
that protect your window.
Barrier
Bar
Small
windows for the toilet or overhead lights above the door are nice, practical
but also susceptible to burglary. Protect them with a barrier bar so that adult
people cannot enter this way.
Turntable
fittings
In turn
fittings open up your windows wijduit, but also with a narrow gap. An ideal
solution for windows that you would like to leave open for ventilation - even
when you need to do some shopping. Lockable turntable fittings are also
available. You thereby prevent the latch of a window from being moved. If a
burglar breaks a small part of your window and can reach the handle, he cannot
turn it around.
Window
latch
You can
protect small and large windows with an additional window latch . You can place
this horizontally or vertically along the window frame. If you turn the control
arm a quarter turn - past the frame of the window - you have locked the window
in a second place. The better protected, the harder unauthorized people enter!
Window
lock
A window
lock offers safety for both small skylights and regular (sliding) windows and
doors. Because of their small size you can use them perfectly on narrow frames.
Use this product as a side lock, for both your windows and doors. The window
lock hardly stands out due to its small size. The latch falls into the window
frame, providing an additional lock on the window.
French
doors and sliding doors are special eye-catchers. They bring a lot of light in
and offer easy access to the outside. Unfortunately, this type of door is also
susceptible to burglary, so good security is essential.
Sliding
door protection
Protect
your sliding door with special sliding door protection . This extends over the
width of the sliding door and provides a lock with a bar. There are variants
that you can put on a 'safe ventilation' position, so that you do not lack fresh
air.
4.
BURGLARY PROTECTION FOR GARDEN AND GARAGE
The lounge
set, an engine, car parts, garden tools ... just some products that could be in
your garage. Although the one undoubtedly has more value than the other, you
don't want burglars to run away with part of the garage content. And do you not
even want burglars to set foot in your garden? The solution is qualitative
security!
Whether
your garage has an up-and-over door or overhead door (also called sectional
door): there is always a suitable garage door protection for it. For example,
there are fixed, lockable blocks that you place in the rail of an up-and-over
door or overhead door. If you want more ease of use, then both types of
protection have also been developed that you can operate both from the inside
and from the outside. This is practical when you do not have a separate wicket
door and you want to be able to open the garage door from the outside.
Anti-climbing
strip
You
protect a fence, fence or flat roof with an anti-climb strip. Straight, bent in
corners or together as a roll system, you create a practical partition that
blocks intruders. Also good to use to keep pets such as the neighbors' cat from
your garden!
