Mice. A Mouse Plague In The House, What Now?

Cat or cat against mice

A cat or cat is an excellent means to fight mice. Moreover, it is environmentally friendly because no more mice are killed than the cat can catch. The mice leave as soon as possible once they realize that there is a cat in the house. The smell of a cat is important here. A cat easily catches a mouse and the mice soon know that a cat lives in the house. However, if you already have a serious pest and the cat only comes home, it may take a while for the mice to be driven away. Yet this natural enemy of the mouse is a good deterrent, because mice prefer to live in houses where no cats live. Rats don't like cats either. Because rats can be a lot bolder than mice, and because rats are larger than mice, a small cat is not sufficient for a truerat plague . Several cats at the same time can successfully hunt rats together, but the cats must have experience with hunting rats and the cats should not be lazy and well-fed.

Cat drives away mice

Cats often realize that there is a mouse nearby than people. If you take a (adult!) Cat as a pet in your house, you will soon be rid of the mouse plague. Be careful not to scatter poison because the cat will die if it eats a mouse that has poison in its body. A cat does not have to be hungry to catch mice, although a cat that catches mice because he / she is hungry will eat the mice more often. However, the instinct of a cat is so strong that the cat or cat will like to hunt mice and eventually kill them, even if the cat or cat is not hungry, they hunt mice. Mice will therefore prefer to leave a house as soon as possible once an adult cat or cat lives. If you dispose of the cat or cat, chances are that you will soon again suffer from mice.

Prevent mice, how?

If your neighbors have cats and you don't have a cat, the mice will move to your house automatically. Preventing you from getting mice is not easy, but there are things that help.

• Store all food.

• Wash all dishes.
• Seal all food in cupboards in lockable cans or glass jars.

• Keep windows and doors closed but keep in mind that mice can often crawl under doors if a crack remains open under the door, due to the construction of their flat backbone.
• Close holes and openings in walls and drainage pipes with strong iron mesh.
• Do not scatter poison that they are resistant to, because it serves as food and attracts mice.
